Nancy’s life as an artist began as a young child with coloring books and crayons, blending colors then buffing them with tissue to make them shine. All through her formative years in school, she spent hours outside of class working on projects and developing her eye and creativity in a variety of mediums including batik, block printing, jewelry making, painting, and sculpture. The seventies were filled with travel and exploring the art and cultures of the world. She traveled to the remote tip of the Baja peninsula and fell in love with the area, making Los Cabos her winter destination. Here she began hand painting t-shirts and this turned into hand-painted heavyweight canvas tote bags that led to a corporate account with Nordstrom Department Stores for years. After reading a decorative wall painting book she began to experiment with colors and layers of washes and began a long career as a decorative painter here in Los Cabos, working in some of the most beautiful homes along the Sea of Cortez. On a whim Nancy took a five-day mosaic workshop with Laurel Skye and her creativity expanded into the world of mosaic art, developing her own style of mosaic and incorporating freshwater cultured pearls, semi-precious stones, jewelry, crystals, tile and found objects. She creates her fantastical pieces on skulls, bottles, shoes, mirrors, and anything that she warrants would be an amazing armature for her detailed creations.
