JANE LILLICO

San Jose’s burgeoning Art District, fabulous weather, and waste management issues, compelled Jane to relocate here from Vancouver British Columbia in 2008. Jane hopes to increase awareness of the fragility of our environment, and the importance of reusing and recycling wherever possible. Over the past 18 years, Jane’s works have explored the multi-faceted aspects of paper construction. Several trips throughout Mexico, and exposure to a broad spectrum of styles, techniques, and preservation of this ancient art form, have inspired her to explore and expand this medium to a new level of possibilities.  She continues to explore the use of other recycled materials, such as wood scraps, bamboo, wire, wire mesh, plastic, and broken glass; in addition to the more traditional variety of papers and cardboard. Jane studied Arts and Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon, and graduated from Interior Design at Mount Royal College in Calgary. She is now exploring concrete and fiberglass as mediums for outdoor sculpture.
